A fleet of oyster boats docked at the City Dock in downtown Annapolis, Maryland, circa 1953. City Dock was homeport for skipjacks and tonging boats from September through April which was the oyster season as prescribed by law. The fleet of oyster boats that docked in the harbor at times were so plentiful that it was possible to cross from Compromise Street to Dock Street by walking from deck to deck.
